A year of unrelated work has no natural order, so a reel has to impose one. This one alternates finished frames with the sets behind them, which gives the cut a repeating shape to rely on and quietly answers the question a reel always raises about who actually made the work. Forty seconds is the discipline: nothing gets a second beat, and anything that needs explaining is out.
The harder kind of reel to assemble, because the work in it does not match: human stories next to entertainment campaigns next to event coverage. Rather than smoothing that out, the cut uses it — moving deliberately between reflection, surprise and action so the range becomes the argument. What holds it together is treatment rather than subject, and keeping that consistent across borrowed material is most of the work.
